Volunteer Opportunities
People interested in volunteering to help our Lorain Public Library System are encouraged to consider one or more of the following opportunities.
Become a Project LITE Adult Literacy Tutor.
Help an adult learn to read. Become a volunteer tutor with the Lorain Public Library System's Adult Literacy Program. The training is free. To sign up for the training sessions, or to find out more about becoming a volunteer tutor, call the Library's Project LITE office at 440-244-1192, ext. 242 or 1-800-322-READ, ext. 242.
Join the Friends Group of your local Library.
The purpose of Friends of the Library groups is to support our libraries through volunteering or through fund raising efforts. To join, pick up a membership form at your local Lorain Public Library System Library. Memberships forms are also available online for The Friends of the Columbia Library, Inc. at www.columbiafriends.com or for The Friends of the North Ridgeville Branch Library, Inc. at www.nrfriends.com. Our Friends groups include: Friends of the Lorain Public Library, Inc. (serving the Main Library in Lorain, South Lorain Branch and the Bookmobile); The Friends of the Avon Library; The Friends of the Columbia Library, Inc.; The Friends of the Domonkas Library; and The Friends of the North Ridgeville Branch Library, Inc.
