Why did her family move her across the country away from people that know her, and why are they so secretive and protective? From her tense relationships with her new friends at the Ecosystem Charter School to the suspense of finding out more and more of the truth, this book is a true page turner. | Little Brother by Cory Doctorow - Wow - I really loved this one. It is science fiction with teens and technology, gaming and national security. W1n5t0n knows his way around computers and security technology and isn't afraid to use that knowledge to protect his and other's rights to freedom and privacy. See what could happen if instead of protecting our citizens against terrorists, the government goes too far, treating all Americans as potential threats, tracking their every move and torturing suspects, even innocent teens. |

Hate List by Jennifer Brown - Hate List is a fictitious book that tells how a girl and her classmates deal with a school shooting. I like this book because kids can relate to it and it has different styles of writing: newspaper articles, flashbacks, and present, that contribute to the whole picture. Hate List gives the reality of the effects a school shooting has on students and brings attention to it. Nancy– 8th grade |
