Children's Services@LPLS

Introducing children from birth through the fifth grade to the value and pleasure of books is the primary focus of Children’s Services in the Lorain Public Library System. This goal is accomplished in a variety of fun, engaging ways:

Dedicated play and discovery areas offered in each facility as part of the learning process:

Main Library: Browser's® Corner opened in 2006, a special section for children birth through six years old and their parents or caregivers offering early literacy computers, a train table, games and puzzles. Click for pic

Avon Branch: Children can expand their imagination with the puppets and puppet theatre in the comfortable Children’s Area. Little hands can also keep busy playing with puzzles, or using early literacy computers as their parents browse for library materials. The Children’s Area includes a great selection of themed backpacks, board books, picture and easy readers, fiction and non-fiction for fourth and fifth graders, plus music CDs, videos, DVDs, and more. Click for pic
